Op zondag 13 december 1992 nam Eric, samen met het Kaji Budokai Do Full Contact Karate team deel aan het “ 1ste Open Nederlandse Oyama Full Contact Karate” kampioenschap te Emmen (Nederland). Het evenement werd ingericht door Sensei Henk Kuipers en dit onder auspiciën van de World Oyama Karate Organization. Alle vechters gaven het uiterste van zichzelf maar niemand bereikte jammerlijk genoeg de finales.

Op zondag 29 november 1992 hebben Franky Geleyns, Dirk Dhondt, Kurt Wittevrongel, Johan Wittevrongel en Jürgen Laroy meegevochten op het 4de Open Nederlands Isshinryu Full Contact Karate toernooi te Emmen (Nederland), georganiseerd door Sensei Fred van de Vijver, onder auspiciën van de NIKA.

Het betrof een Europees toernooi met deelnemers uit 9 verschillende landen, waar meerdere vechters van de Kaji Budokai Do Full Contact Karate club uit Blankenberge succesvol aan deelnamen. Ook Eric Van Vaerenbergh (schouderblessure) stond het team bij als hulpcoach.

Op zondag 12 april 1992 heeft Eric Van Vaerenbergh een speciale Kobudo stage gevolgd onder leiding van Sensei Sagar Shrestha in Sporthal “De Stormmeeuw” te Knokke.

De traditionele Japanse wapens die tijdens deze Kobudo stage aangeleerd werden waren:

• Bo
• Yo
• Tonfa
• Sai
• Kamae

Deze Kobudo stage werd ingericht onder auspiciën van de BBKA.

Op maandag 30 maart 1992 heeft Eric Van Vaerenbergh zich aangesloten bij de Belgische Kickboxing Organisatie (BKBO) en valt nu onder de Vlaamse Kickboxing Organisatie met registratienummer 21166.
